New Technique

Wood Conditioner

So I saw this technique online about a smoother, less blotchy look to stained wood. I thought to myself, if it can look good enough to be a permanent fixture in someone's house then it should look pretty good on a simple project. I love the way it turned out. Minwax Pre Stain ~ Wood Conditioner. I think it gave the piece a lighter, smoother appearance. I then followed this up with the Growth Chart design and finished it with a layer of Minwax English Chestnut. I have also pictured a test sample where I didn't use the Wood Conditioner and you can see the blotchiness and the sample is much darker.

Pictured with my super adorable little one are a few samples of the painted growth charts. The Valspar Splish Splash Blue is the first one I sold and I offered to add the buyer's kids'  names to the back. I really like how it turned out.
